Optional Chill Time: 15–30 minutes
Total Active Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 2

What You’ll Need

Base

  • 1 tin Don Bocarte Octopus with Smoked Paprika
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp orange juice (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • Salt, to taste

Mix-ins

  • 2 tbsp red onion, finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp cucumber, diced small
  • 1 tbsp jalapeño or serrano pepper, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tbsp avocado, diced

To Serve

  • Tortilla chips, plantain chips, or chilled martini glasses for a modern touch

How to Make It

    1. Build the Marinade
In a medium bowl, whisk together lime juice, orange juice, olive oil, and a small pinch of salt.

    2. Add the Octopus
Slice the octopus pieces into bite-sized chunks and add them to the bowl with the marinade. Toss gently to coat.

    3. Mix It Up
Add the onion, cucumber, jalapeño, and cilantro. Stir carefully until everything is evenly combined.
Tip: The smoky paprika oil from the tin adds depth — stir in a teaspoon for a subtle, savory kick.

    4. Chill (Optional)
Cover and refrigerate for 15–30 minutes to let the citrus and smoke mingle — or serve right away for a quick bite

    5. Finish and Serve
Just before serving, fold in the avocado. Spoon into chilled glasses or serve with crispy chips.

    Why It Works

The tender octopus from Don Bocarte brings a perfect balance of ocean richness and gentle smokiness, while the citrus and heat lift everything up. Crunchy vegetables and creamy avocado add freshness and texture — no cooking required, just pure coastal simplicity.
